Tactile teaching tool for Turkish schools
Project in partnership with The Berkeley Turkish School
Introducing the Expanse teaching tool, which allows students to peel back layers of history and learn about Turkish culture.
Each layer is placed on the mat and corresponds to a particular Empire and its region of control. The kids can literally peel back the layers of history and see where the lines of control shifted over time.
Each layer represents a moment in the history of the people of Turkey within this map.

Initial concept sketches to teach various aspects of culture and history.
After choosing to use a mat map (say that three times fast), different designs were proposed to generate a product.
Throughout the process, prototypes were taken to the Berkeley Turkish School to validate solutions.
